Introduction: What Does God’s
Blessing Look Like?
PS 1:1 Blessed is the man who does not walk in the
counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit
in the seat of mockers.
PS 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and
on his law he meditates day and night.
PS 1:3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which
yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers.

MT 4:8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and
showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9 "All this I will give you," he said, "if
you will bow down and worship me."
MT 4:10 Jesus said to him, "Away from me, Satan! For
it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.'

DT 8:10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the
LORD your God for the good land he has given you. 11 Be careful
that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe
his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you
this day. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when
you build fine houses and settle down, 13 and when your herds
and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and
all you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become
proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you
out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 He led you through
the vast and dreadful desert, that thirsty and waterless land,
with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water
out of hard rock. 16 He gave you manna to eat in the desert,
something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test
you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may
say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands
have produced this wealth for me." 18 But remember the
LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce
wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your
forefathers, as it is today.
DT 8:19 If you ever forget the LORD your God and follow
other gods and worship and bow down to them, I testify against
you today that you will surely be destroyed. 20 Like the nations
the LORD destroyed before you, so you will be destroyed for
not obeying the LORD your God.

LK 16:8 "The master commended the dishonest manager because
he had acted shrewdly. For the people of this world are more
shrewd in dealing with their own kind than are the people
of the light. 9 I tell you, use worldly wealth to gain friends
for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed
into eternal dwellings.
LK 16:10 "Whoever can be trusted with very little can
also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very
little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have
not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will
trust you with true riches? 12 And if you have not been trustworthy
with someone else's property, who will give you property of
your own?
LK 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters. Either
he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted
to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God
and Money."
LK 16:14 The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this
and were sneering at Jesus. 15 He said to them, "You
are the ones who justify yourselves in the eyes of men, but
God knows your hearts. What is highly valued among men is
detestable in God's sight.

Part 1: God’s Characteristics
and Promises
Based on Isaiah 40:25-31:
ISA 40:25 "To whom will you compare me? Or who is my
equal?" says the Holy One.
ISA 40:26 Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created
all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and
calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty
strength, not one of them is missing.
ISA 40:27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel,
"My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded
by my God"?
ISA 40:28 Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD
is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no
one can fathom.
ISA 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the
power of the weak.
ISA 40:30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men
stumble and fall;
ISA 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their
strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run
and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

PS 107:10 Some sat in darkness and the deepest gloom, prisoners
suffering in iron chains,
PS 107:11 for they had rebelled against the words of God
and despised the counsel of the Most High.
PS 107:12 So he subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled,
and there was no one to help.

Part 2: God’s Plan For
Successful Living: Avoiding debt based on Luke 15:11-24
LK 15:11 Jesus continued: "There was a man who had
two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, `Father,
give me my share of the estate.' So he divided his property
between them.
LK 15:13 "Not long after that, the younger son got
together all he had, set off for a distant country and there
squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent
everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country,
and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself
out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields
to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods
that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.

LK 15:17 "When he came to his senses, he said, `How
many of my father's hired men have food to spare, and here
I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my
father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven
and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your
son; make me like one of your hired men.' 20 So he got up
and went to his father.
"But while he was still a long way off, his father saw
him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his
son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
LK 15:21 "The son said to him, `Father, I have sinned
against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be
called your son. '
LK 15:22 "But the father said to his servants, `Quick!

you did not obey the LORD your God and observe the commands

to you and your descendants forever. 47 Because you did not
serve the LORD your God joyfully and gladly in the time of

his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for
God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all
grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having
all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As

in thanksgiving to God.
2CO 9:12 This service that you perform is not only supplying
the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many
expressions of thanks to God. 13 Because of the service by
which you have proved yourselves, men will praise God for
the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel

and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the
presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose
as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere
the LORD your God always. 24 But if that place is too distant
and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot
carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose
to put his Name is so far away), 25 then exchange your tithe
for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place
the LORD your God will choose. 26 Use the silver to buy whatever
you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or
anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there
in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice. 27 And do
not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have
no allotment or inheritance of their own.
DT 14:28 At the end of every three years, bring all the
tithes of that year's produce and store it in your towns,
29 so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance
of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows
who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied,
and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work

2CO 8:1 And now, brothers, we want you to know about the
grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. 2 Out of
the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme
poverty welled up in rich generosity. 3 For I testify that
they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their
ability. Entirely on their own, 4 they urgently pleaded with
us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints.

first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will.

God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts--
32 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze,
33 to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in
all kinds of artistic craftsmanship. 34 And he has given both
him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the
ability to teach others. 35 He has filled them with skill
to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers
in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers--all
of themmaster craftsmen and designers. 1 So Bezalel, Oholiab
and every skilled person to whom the LORD has given skill
and ability to know how to carry out all the work of constructing
the sanctuary are to do the work just as the LORD has commanded."
EX 36:2 Then Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every
skilled person to whom the LORD had given ability and who
was willing to come and do the work.

DT 28:9 The LORD will establish you as his holy people,
as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the
LORD your God and walk in his ways. 10 Then all the peoples
on earth will see that you are called by the name of the LORD,
and they will fear you. 11 The LORD will grant you abundant
prosperity--in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock
and the crops of your ground--in the land he swore to your
forefathers to give you.
DT 28:12 The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse
of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to
bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations
but will borrow from none. 13 The LORD will make you the head,
not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the
LORD your God that I give you this day and carefully follow
them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.
14 Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today,
to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving
them.
