MAY WE PRAY FOR YOU?
Frank Laubach wrote that prayer is the mightiest force in
the world. Sir Thomas Buxton wrote, “…the value of prayer…is
beyond all price.” Martin Luther wrote, “If I should neglect
prayer but a single day, I should lose a great deal of the fire of faith.”
John Wesley said, “God does nothing but in answer to prayer.”
Peter Kreeft, an author and professor of philosophy at Boston College,
wrote, "I strongly suspect that if we saw all the difference even
the tiniest of our prayers make, and all the people those little prayers
were destined to affect, and all the consequences of those prayers down
through the centuries, we would be so paralyzed with awe at the power
of prayer that we would be unable to get up off our knees for the rest
of our lives."
The apostles knew the value of prayer and they set themselves
apart from the business of daily duties to give themselves to prayer and
the ministry of the Word. Prayer came first. Paul wrote, “Night
and day praying exceedingly.” We give ourselves continually to prayer.
IMF has the Agnes M. Masted Intercessory Prayer Group which “gives
themselves continually to prayer.” Each year the Fellowship sets
aside 40 days of Prayer, Fasting Daily Devotions
no later than June 1, of each year. We will mail you a free copy of our
devotional booklet. Beginning in June and running
through mid-July, members
participate in focusing on this discipline of grace called
prayer. Many
volunteers will fast a day or two each week during the 40 day period.
This fast is not like fast of other religions where you fast during the
day and eat and revel in social delights during the evening. Our fasts
are designed to call us closer to God in prayer and closer to His Holiness,
seeking His face and a life of intimacy with Him.
