Serving Those Who Serve Others

IMF Chaplaincy Program

(Pastoral Care in Special Settings)

HAVE YOU EVER WONDERED…

Have you ever watched M*A*S*H re-runs and wondered how a Catholic priest, Father Mulcahy, wound up as a chaplain in Korea assigned to an Army hospital unit? Ever thought “Hey! I could do that!”? If you have been hospitalized in the last five years, upon admission you were either asked if you wanted a chaplain to visit you, or a chaplain stopped by unrequested (it’s the law now). Did you think, “That’s an interesting ministry. I wonder if/how I could do this…?”

AN ALLIANCE IS IN PLACE!

IMF is an Ecclesiastical Endorsing agency. Our ministers have the same access to military and civilian chaplaincy as the mainline denominations. Could it be that God is calling you to represent IMF in the Army, Navy, or Air Force? There are openings available right now for both National Guard and Reserve Chaplains.  Or, are you more interested in healthcare chaplaincy at Veteran Affairs hospitals or civilian hospitals or hospices? Or, perhaps correctional chaplaincy appeals to you with the Federal Bureau of Prisons or with your state’s correctional facilities. IMF can provide ecclesiastical endorsement or recognition in any of these ministry areas.

ATTENTION SEMINARIANS!

Are you a seminarian or graduate counseling student and a member of IMF or one of its affiliated churches? How about a no obligation, first-hand taste of military ministry during your summer breaks and be commissioned and paid as an officer? The Army, Navy, and Air Force all offer just such programs for “chaplain candidates” so that students can explore military chaplaincy. Additionally, the Army and Air Force offer tuition assistance programs for candidates willing to make a commitment. Currently, IMF has numerous military chaplains.

ATTENTION MILITARY MEMBERS!

Perhaps you are already in the military, are happy with your job, and have no interest in becoming a chaplain. As you probably know, there is a real, major shortage of Spirit-led chaplains to conduct Spirit directed services. Nevertheless, if you are a mature Christian leader and would like to help out, you now can by becoming authorized as a “certified lay minister” to voluntarily conduct such services as a representative of IMF. Interested?

ATTENTION CIVILIANS

Have you been wrestling with ways to make an impact for the Kingdom in your area? Have you given any thought to becoming a Police, Fire, and/or EMT chaplain? Now more than ever this field of ministry is blossoming with creative opportunities to reach out and be salt and light in your own community, providing loving comfort and support to others in their greatest time of need. Once again, IMF can provide ecclesiastical endorsement or recognition in any of these ministry areas.
